i've probably od-ed on roti canai and milo ais in the past three weeks. finally managed to satisfy my craving for pj state wantan mee, oh what heaven. that reminds me! i haven't had my ipoh hor fun yet :( also i've been given the honour of choosing what i want to for dinner every night, thanks to my superwoman popo :) i make malaysia sound like it's all about food. but really it is. the one thing that's been bothering me since i got back is my sinus problem :( i never had this back in melbourne i guess because the air there is clean and dry as hell. tissue paper ftw. i wake up every morning and my family thinks i have a cold or something. speaking of which, malaysians are totally paranoid over H1N1. okay i know it's a good thing we want to prevent the spread of the virus but it's like the scare is elevated to another level here. i mean, melbourne is apparently the world's swine flu capital with more than a thousand cases, but the people there aren't making this huge fuss over it. you don't see any aussies wearing masks except the occasional paranoid asian tourist. most patients recover without any medicine. anyway point is i just think malaysia's overreacting. we should instead put more focus on the ridiculous decision to make the switch back to bm for math and science subjects, with politicians assuring us that the standard of english proficiency will improve despite the switch just because there will be longer hours for english classes and more emphasis on english literature, and because they will be recruiting this mega-awesome batch of teachers proficient in the language to teach our poor students whose grades in the mentioned subjects have been deteriorating because it is taught in english, so it's now being switched back to bm with hopes of improving english at the same time. like, WTF? fuggin contradictory if you ask me, and stupid anyway. hey mister, why not leave it as it is in english and then work on improving english as a subject at the same time? OH, i guess not. ...........anyway. i'm glad i learned those subs in english. and i am now married to nicole. |
